| The Franklin Grove Public Library had its beginning in
November, 1916. At that time fifty cents and one book were required to
belong to the Library. At the end of the first year one hundred and fifty
people were members. The Library was housed in a room at the local doctor's
office. In 1927 the doctor's office closed and the Library moved to the
Village Hall. The Library became tax supported during the elections of
1933. A bequest left in 1944 allowed our Library to move to its present
location in another doctor's office in 1946. Overcrowed conditions led
to a building fund drive and construction of the addition was completed
in 1979. The addition nearly doubled the size of the building. The Spring
village election of 1996 saw the passing of a much needed referendum. |
