Welcome to Herzberg district
...situated on the Southwest of the German state of Brandenburg with a size of 667 square kilometers and 84 kilometers above sea level. Herzberg is located at the intersection of roads B87 and B101 about 90 miles south of Berlin.
When you visit Herzberg you will be impressed by the variety and beauty of the countryside formed by the plain between the river Elbe and river Schwarze Elster. The East part Herzberg is bounded by the foothills of the "Low Flaeming. Low plains and soft hills covered with extensive pine forests and deciduous trees where deer, wild boars and other animals abound.
Herzberg is a medieval town founded in 1184 and has been the district center since 1816. Herzberg's name and city-arms, which shows a striding stag on a hill, goes back to the occupation of the town by the Counts of Brehna. City landmarks include the church St. Marien, the concentrated food plant, and watertower with an observatory.
