Franklin Grove Church of the Brethren
Continuing the work of Jesus. Peacefully. Simply. Together

Who Are We?

We are . . .
  • a people who formed in Bible Study and Prayer.
  • a Christian people of faith in a loving, faithful God.
  • a people who take seriously Jesus' command to love your neighbor, even the enemy.
  • a people with an invitation, inviting you to get to know the people of the Franklin Grove Church of the Brethren.

Our History . . .
In 1708, the CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN was organized in Germany in an effort to put into practice the teachings of the New Testament.  We are one of the three "historic peace churches," along with the Society of Friends (Quakers) and the Mennonites.
We recognize that there is another way to live, that is a new life in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior, regardless of denominational background.
The Franklin Grove congregation was founded in 1845.  We are one of over 1000 congregations in the United States.

Our Mission . . .
Continuing the work of Jesus.  Peacefully. Simply. Together.
As a people of faith, we hold the New Testament as our only creed and guide for faithful living.
We observe the ordinances taught by Jesus, including adult baptism, anointing for healing, and a Love Feast with feetwashing and Holy Communion.
We believe that our service to others is a reflection of God's love for us.  We believe in social justice, peace, and unity among all peoples.

Our Invitation . . .
We invite you to join us for worship, Sunday School classes for all ages, ministry through music, Wednesday Prayer Meetings, fellowship times, camps, Vacation Bible School, and other ministry opportunities.
