IASCOE President’s Report February 19, 2007 |
|
Dear Fellow Illinois FSA Employees:
I am writing this IASCOE Convention reminder to you on the day of the last official government holiday that we observe in the string of holidays that have occurred in the previous six months. So on this President’s Day, as President of IASCOE, I warmly (the first day in 23 days in Northern Illinois that it is above freezing), encourage you to attend the Convention in Collinsville. It will be held March 23 and 24 at the Holiday Inn. This Convention will be unique in that it is being held jointly with Missouri. Here’s our chance to steal a few work ideas from them!
We all can attest to the hardships that we have endured this past winter. Hey, forget work – I’m talking about Higher Electrical Rates, Frozen Water Pipes, and the Fighting Illini! Let’s make this the unofficial March holiday that we can relax and visit with fellow employees.
Friday, our Administrator, Teresa Lasseter will speak. Also speaking on Friday afternoon will be our National Vice-President, Bonnie Heinzman who is a PT from West Virginia. Friday evening we will have a trivia bowl as well as a DJ. Saturday morning, Congressman John Shimkus will be in attendance. Jane Graves, a Richland County PT, will speak on her accomplishments with Farm Safety 4 Just Kids and Progressive Ag Safety Day. Mark VanHoose, our MWA National Exec, a CED from Ohio will make a presentation. A luncheon will be held and the convention will conclude by mid-afternoon. Throughout the Convention several awards will be presented recognizing employees personal talents and achievements. I will make sure you all have the complete program as soon as it is finalized.
This is the best opportunity you will ever have to be able to meet and to discuss with individuals associated with our work/employee issues. Lasseter, Shimkus, Heinzman – they’re all involved with our daily lives in some fashion. Now is the time to ask them questions and express your concerns. This of course is also an excellent opportunity to express your concerns to your Illinois leadership as well.
I have attached a pre-registration form that is highly suggested to be completed and sent to Charlene Neukomm. Her address is at the bottom of the form. This needs to be to her by March 9th. The luncheon will be a plate lunch and not a buffet so it is important that we are accurate with our registration counts. If spending Friday evening, please make your reservations by March 2nd.
Looking forward to seeing you next month; please call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Les Maierhofer IASCOE President |
