IASCOE

Distinguished Service Award to the Community

It is a privilege for me to submit a nomination for the IASCOE Community Service Award in the name of Diana Collier.

Diana is a member of the Potters Hall Church in West Union, IL where she is the 4th Sunday secretary.  She helps with cleaning and decorating the church along with providing fruit baskets and cookies at Christmas when the church carols.  She has been active in the Awana Club at the Martinsville Bible Church on Wednesday nights for 8 years.  She teaches the Sparks which involves kindergarten – 2nd grade children.  Diana makes sure that the children are provided with special treats and snacks when teaching them at a young age.

Diana is very active with the “Women in the Outdoors” (WITO) which is sponsored by the National Turkey Federation.  At the Lincoln Trail Turkey Chapter annual banquet held in Clark County, Diana helps with the WITO raffle table along with selling WITO memberships, gathers door prizes for the banquet, and gives that lady’s touch of decorating the tables for the annual banquet.  Numerous meetings are held throughout the year to organize the spring and fall bingo fundraisers held at the Mill Creek Park.  Money raised is contributed to the Clark County Food Pantry by donating turkeys.  Lots of hours are also spent on the annual Women in the Outdoors all day event held for women to participate in outdoor activities.  Diana again organizes the raffles, gathers door prizes, & helps with making sure the instructors of the event are scheduled.  The event has been held for three years with Diana being the co-outdoor cooking instructor for two years. If you ever go camping, you need to ask Diana for an outdoor cooking recipe!

Diana also assists her daughter, Jamie, who sells Longaberger Baskets, in the annual Longaberger Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon held in Marshall, IL.  Diana, as you can tell, is very giving and talented so she offers her generosity of donating a silent auction item and her talent of decorating tables or making bows for the baskets.

Diana grew up in Martinsville, IL, and she has been married to David Collier for 30 years.  She has a daughter Jamie, 25 years old, and a son Nick, 19 years old.  When the children were in school, Diana was involved with Brownies, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and anything that the children needed their mother to be there for them.  Diana’s hobbies are collecting Longaberger baskets, Coke products, and Boyd’s Bears.

Diana started working for FSA in Clark County as a temporary employee October 11, 1998, Coles County February 23, 1999, and back to Clark County June 6, 1999.  Then Diana was hired as a permanent employee for Crawford County June 4, 2000.

I know how deserving Diana is of this award because she is married to my first cousin. She always has her family first and the faith of God in her heart at all times.   Diana never wants to be in the spotlight, but this time it is her time to shine.  Therefore, I proudly nominate Diana Collier for the 2007 IASCOE Community Service Award.

Respectfully Submitted:

Tammy J. Morrison, PT- Clark County FSA
