It is an honor to submit a nomination for Service to IASCOE
in the name of Jerry Quinton.
Jerry started with FSA in 1984 as a trainee in DeWitt
County. He became the CED in Lee County in 1985. In 1997 he took on the
enormous task of designing the IASCOE website. Anyone who’s ever worked with a
website can appreciate how hard a job this was. Everytime Jerry was asked to
add a new dimension to the website, he enthusiastically worked to get it just
right. He did an amazing job posting information and registration for the
National Convention held in St. Charles in 2000. At that time, Illinois was
only the second state to post convention information and registration on their
website. He also worked especially hard on the Emblems section of the website,
revamping it to include pictures of items and a printable order form. As a
result of his hard work, he won the Midwest Area Award for best Website in 2005.
In March of 2002, Jerry became a member of the Board of
Directors for IASCOE & also signed on as Legislative Chair. This is where Jerry
has really excelled. Jerry is what is known as a “People Person” & brought a
new level of energy to the legislative conferences he attended in Washington
DC. He really enjoys breaking in “rookies” at these conferences & showing them
the ropes. He loves to talk with our legislators about NASCOE items of
concern. Jerry has represented our organization very well & continues to work
diligently in this capacity with our state legislators. No one can over
estimate the effect he has had in his excursions to Washington & with
legislators here in Illinois.
After years of tireless work for our organization and its
members, Jerry deserves to be acknowledged for his dedication and commitment.
It is with heartfelt thanks that I nominate Jerry Quinton for the Service to
IASCOE Award.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Marchello
