IAW Annual Meeting

Embassy Suites, Peoria, IL

March 6-7, 2008

The Embassy Suites in East Peoria is excited to host Illinois Agri Women’s Annual Meeting on March 6th and 7th, 2008.  The activities will get underway at 3:00pm on Thursday March 6th.   The first order of business will entail reviewing Illinois Agri Women’s position statements.  Later that evening will include speakers on Ag Issues in the State and continuing the development of our leadership skills.  The evening will end with a catered dinner at the hotel.  Friday morning, the 7th,  will begin early with breakfast.  The Annual Meeting will continue after breakfast by getting into the heart of our agenda. After a full day of meetings our day’s activities will finish off with a tour of the facilities at the USDA Agriculture Research Lab.  Registration is due by March 1st.  Hotel Reservations can be made by contacting the Embassy Suites at 309-694-0200.  A block of rooms with discounted rates has been established under the name of Illinois Agri Women.

Illinois Ag Legislation Dayy

State Capitol, Springfield, IL

IAW will join four dozen Illinois agricultural organizations in sponsoring an annual legislative event.  This annual initiative is a collaboration of farm, trade, and commodity organizations whose leaders meet with Members of the Illinois General Assembly to urge passage of legislative initiatives key to agriculture.  While not all groups agree on all issues, the organizations jointly push for passage on issues of common ground.  The day will begin with an early breakfast with legislators in Howlett Building, Hall of Flags at the State Capitol.  After breakfast and a concise briefing on current legislative events, participants will make personal visits with assigned legislators.  The IAW Officer team encourages members to participant in this event.  Please keep in mind the IAW Annual Meeting agenda has been skillfully arranged around this event.  It will be possible for IAW Members to begin the day on March 6^th in Springfield and travel to Peoria for the annual meeting activities that afternoon.  Any member wanted to attend needs to register with Cheryl D. by March 1st.  Due to Security at the Capitol, all participants must be register to attend the event. Also please let Cheryl know if you need assistance with car pooling.

Tentative Schedule

7 a.m. -     Doors Open  Howlett  Building, Hall of Flags State Capitol Complex.  You will need to go thru Security Checkpoints in the Howlett, Stratton Building and Capitol.  Please have photo ID ready. 

7:30 a.m. -     Buffet Service will begin for the working breakfast  Howlett Building Hall of Flags.  A working breakfast will be served for the sponsoring ag organizations at the Capitol Steakhouse.  The legislators, their secretaries and staff will be invited to this event.  This provides an excellent opportunity to mingle with other ag organizations and the legislators that might attend.

8:30 a.m. -  IALD program  Howlett Building, Auditorium A few speakers will address the group during this time.

9 a.m. -     Illinois Ag Legislative Roundtable Briefing  The Illinois Farm Bureau will be hosting a roundtable discussion.  This briefing will begin immediately after the speakers.

10 a.m. -   Legislative Visits  Capitol Complex
