The Annual Meeting of Illinois Agri-Women was held February 5th at Joliet Junior College.  IAW members were greeted by Colleen Callahan, Illinois state director of the USDA's Rural Development.  Callahan recapped the activities of the agencies during the past several months.  In addition, she explained the opportunities available for rural communities.  In IAW Action, members elected Mary Meinhart, Montrose, as secretary; Shirley Bartelt, Polo, as Treasurer; and Susan Wall, Sorento, as Special Projects Committee.  Scholarship Chair, Helen Henert, reminded members that the IAW Scholarship applications are due May 30.  Senior College Students who plan to become an agriculture teacher following graduation are encouraged to apply.  The scholarship form is available on the IAW's website or contact Helen Henert.  Members voted to give a one year complimentary membership to the 2009 Scholarship Winner and future winners. Officers, Committee Chairs, and Regional Coordinators provided reports. The following day, IAW members participated in the Chicago Farmers Farmland Investment Fair.
