Agriculture represents 17% of our nation's Gross National Product and provides one out of every 6 jobs.  Besides the food we eat, agriculture generates an estimated 20.1 million jobs (about 17% of the entire U.S. workforce) -- with about 90% of these jobs being off the farm!

Illinois Agri-Women (IAW) are spokespersons for Illinois agriculture.  We tell the story of agriculture across the entire state …. To consumer groups, schools, meetings, workshops, legislative hearings, and more.

With all the special interest groups active today, it is important that we all work together for the good of the entire industry of agriculture.

Our members come from farms, agri-business, and others interested in a positive image for Illinois agriculture -- virtually every walk of agricultural life.

IAW and AAW members believe that we must develop the leadership, managerial, communications, and promotional skills of our members in order to be leaders in the agricultural community.

We invite you to join this group of women who are serious about agriculture as a business and profession.
National Affiliation

IAW is an affiliate of the American Agri-Women (AAW), an independent national organization with similar goals and objectives.  Founded in 1974, AAW has worked on national issues of mutual concern in legislation, regulations, education, and promotion of agriculture.  The efforts of AAW members and officers has brought national recognition of women's interest in agricultural issues in America.

Statement of Purpose

We, as women's agricultural organizations and individuals, unite together to communicate with one another  and with other consumers to promote agriculture for the benefit of the American people of the world.

AAW Definition of the "Family Farm"

A family farm is a form of business enterprise in which the entrepreneurial decisions are made by a family engaged in the production of food, feed, fiber, forest products and /or flora, for profit, which provides a major source of income, and capital for reinvestment.
