The spring meeting
of the Illinois Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association
will take place at the
Matteson Village Hall
4900 Village Commons (205th and Cicero/Rt. 50),
Matteson, Illinois,
on Saturday, March 25, 2000.
The business meeting will begin at 11:15
and be followed by lunch.
The afternoon program will feature the villages of Matteson, Park Forest and
Olympia Fields and the development of the Lincoln Highway through them. None of
these towns were on the Highway at it's beginning in 1913. Matteson was
incorporated, but located about a half mile south. Olympia
Fields was incorporated in 1927 and Park Forest in 1949.
Afterward, attendees will be invited to tour the Matteson Historical Museum, the
Park Forest House Museum and a site to be named in Olympia Fields---plus inspect
the stretch of Highway discussed in the program.
Fee for the day is $12.00, lunch included. Please make reservations before
March 20th.

Directions: From the Lincoln Highway east of I-57 in Matteson, turn north
on Rte. 50 (Cicero Ave). Go to the second cross road -- [Village
Commons/205th (on the left), Morning Glory Drive (on the
right] -- and turn west (left). The village hall is the building with the
round roof.
