"Going out in style" should be the slogan of the Rock Falls Manufacturing Company. Caskets and hearses were made by the company, originally located in Rock Falls, but moved to Sterling in 1883. L.E. Brookfield, son of a Rock Falls banker, assumed management of the company at age 17; he died at an early age. The two hearses shown below with glass sides are representative of a broad line produced by the company and sold nationwide.
