The Sterling Municipal Band was organized and first directed by Jake Hitzelberger who was also the first conductor in 1919. The picture (taken on Lawrence Island in the Rock River) is from a photo album belonging to Gordon McKee who started with the band in 1926; he was the drum major for the Sterling Municipal Marching Band. Today, the band members presently perform as the Sterling Municipal Symphony Band. ![]() |
