TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Q. Whet is the Volunteer Care Center of Lee County (VCC)?

A. It is a health and medical center for those individuals and families not able to find a doctor or get medical care because of financial difficulties, or because of in-adequate private or government insurance. It is staffed by volunteers, including the physicians and nurses.

Q. Who is eligible to come to the Volunteer Core Center of Lee County?

A. Low income residents of the Lee County area who are unable to get medical care because of financial problems are those the VCC hopes to serve. We will determine if you are eligible either when you call us for an appointment or at your first visit. You may be asked to bring some records like canceled checks or bills to help us determine if you are eligible.

Q. Do I need on appointment?

A. Yes. The VCC is not designed to provide emergency care. Appointments should always be made by calling 284-9555.

Q. When will the VCC be open?
A. The VCC will usually be open each Tuesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. If a holiday falls on Tuesday or Thursday, the VCC will be closed.

Q. What is expected of me when I visit the VCC facility?

A. You will be asked to make a voluntary donation to the VCC. A five dollar ($5.00) donation will be appreciated but is not required. Also, you will be asked to contribute one hour of community service for each VCC visit.

Q. How do I get to the VCC?

A. The VCC is located at 403 East First Street, Dixon in the annex (lower level) of KSB Hospital. The patient is responsible for his/her own transportation.

Q. What if I need to see a special doctor?

A. If the VCC doctor feels you must see a specialist, you will be referred to go to that doctor at his/her office. Directions will be provided. There will be no charge for your appointment with the specialist.
